Large Earthworm at Your Bus Stop (6 pics)

So what exactly is this bizarre orange structure? The designers of ‘Bus Stop Symbiosis’ would like you to think just that. Participants of the Bairro Criativo design competition, organized by the Portuguese city of Porto, were tasked to create an easy-to-dismantle structure that would liven up the allocated public space.

Designed by Diogo Aguiar and Teresa Otto of Like Architects, this slug-like creation was the winning entry of the competition. The temporary structure, which has since been dismantled, is certainly eye-catching; daily commuters don't just stop and stare—some even made themselves comfortable with the unusual bench.
