Photographer Lincoln Harrison continues to amaze us with his extensive collection of surreal Startrails. Last year, we were just amazed by his circular swirls that filled the night and now, more recently, he produced a series in which each composition is filled with streaks of gorgeous light bursting across the atmosphere. Harrison documents the majestic night sky by using long exposures combined with a creative zoom technique, and then layering two images together in post-production.
In his work, the Australia-based photographer creates magical worlds that blend real with surreal. With painterly characteristics, strong, silhouetted landscapes sit in the foreground surrounded by energetic star trails forming unusually powerful bursts across the background. A normally peaceful starry night is quickly transformed into a sprinkling of fireworks in the Australian outback. Harrison says, "With no buildings for miles the sky is so clear and it’s amazing to be able to capture the beauty of the night’s sky on camera."
