Every once in a while it's nice to stop, and stand still, and take a moment to look around. When Stockholm-based photographers Inka Lindergård & Niclas Holmström looked around, they realized that these reflective times in a person's life were quite interesting to observe, and so they began this series entitled Watching Humans Watching. The artists say, "Each picture explores man’s disconnected relationship with nature, as if there were a wall between them and the environment."
In the project, the pair explore the contrast of humans set against the powerful beauty of natural landscapes. Without intervening with the scene, they photograph from afar, never actually interacting with their subjects. The photographs spark a curiosity about what each person might be considering as they stare out into the world. Through this simple observation of others, as they themselves also observe, the artists invite viewers to reflect within ourselves and to experience that same contemplative quiet that emanates from each peaceful composition.
