Out of Japan comes Love Distance, a story about a a man from Fukuoka and a woman from Tokyo who live 1,000 km apart. They share a long distance relationship and one day decide that to prove their love, they must run to each other and meet. Simple, sweet and funny. I just read a quote about advertising that I'd like to share. That the best ads are "entertaining and amusing; they are visual rather than verbal; and they say something important and meaningful about the brand being advertised." They are "rational arguments enclosed in emotional envelopes." - John Philip Jones Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • one of my colleagues dug around a bit more on this spot and found this: http://www.lovedistance.jp/ It appears that the couple in this advert were actually two real people in love, not paid actors. it was a documentary that was eventually made into a commercial.

  • @nguyen - yes, i have. that's a great spot, too. very memorable. cool that you share my passion for interesting, compelling and simple advertising. :)
  • great find, alice! beautiful ad. ad folks certainly aspire to create good work that tells a story and connects to the audience in an emotional way, however, often times, some folks have a hard-on (pun intended) for cramming as much crap as they can into the advert. ;) BTW, have you seen the durex condom spot w/the balloon dogs?
