Incredible Fragmented Sculptures Convey Powerful Strength

This striking collection of contemporary sculptures is filled with a powerful strength conveyed through dramatic gestures and unique forms. Entitled Edge Sculpture, the collection was designed and sculpted by Matt Buckley, the Creative Director of Robert Harrop Designs. The series includes a variety of animals, humans, and mythical creatures ranging from a Cobra to a penguin, a dragon, a unicorn, and a warrior.

To produce each piece, Buckley first conducts research and sketches out an idea. Then, with the assistance of a creative team, they mould the shape, cast it in a mix of marble resin, clean the surface of the new sculpture, and conduct a series painting and finishing techniques.

The final piece is a collection of fragments merged together to produce both realistic and imaginative forms. The distinct edges and rough materials produce an amazing visual texture that reflects light in interesting patterns. From the photographs, the sculptures appear to be enormous. However, in reality, the average size of a final piece averages between only about 8 to 15 inches high.
