Architects Want to Build a "Lord of the Rings" City in England

An ambitious team of architects is looking to make their Lord of the Rings-themed dream a reality. To express their passion for both architecture and fantasy, the designers want to build a fully-functional replica of Minas Tirith–a fictional city that was originally born from the mind of J.R.R. Tolkien, but was later depicted in Peter Jackson's films. Now, they want to bring the mythical location to life in the middle of England. This challenging Indiegogo project will cost over $3 billion and the design team hopes to raise the money in a matter of 60 days.

“We all share a love of Tolkien's work, and a desire to challenge the common perception of community and architecture,” the architects wrote on their fundraising page. “We believe that, in realizing Minas Tirith, we can create not only the most remarkable tourist attraction on the planet, but also a wonderfully unique place to live and work.” Even if this hopeful group doesn't raise the necessary funds, their impressive idea still functions as an uplifting tribute to Tolkien's remarkable work.
