Miniature People That Will Make You Smile

Pairing

As true fans of the miniature movement, we were happy to come across these beautifully executed works by Audrey Heller. Working under a strict scale of 1:87, she creates these fantastical worlds that make you want to sit back and stare. I particularly love how she incorporates common, everyday items like old books, tea cups and wine glasses into her works, making us see things in a new and different way. It's interesting to note that Heller has a background in theatre as a lighting designer and director. She considers these works like a theatrical project that just happens to end up on film.

“I try to recalibrate people's vision,” she says, “in hopes that they will become more attentive to things around them. When I offer a payoff for paying attention, I am encouraging behavior that I would like to reinforce in the world. At heart, my photos are always about seeing things differently, and that starts with seeing them at all. We can go out of our way to see something, or we can go out of our way NOT to see something. I'm for seeing.”
