Modern Architecture – Museum of Image and Sound: Rio de Janeiro

I'm really diggin' the facade of this recently awarded building designed by American architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro. Located In the middle of one of the most iconic places in Rio de Janeiro, the Avenida Atlantica at Copacabana, the new Museum of Image and Sound will feature exhibitions rooms, facilities for research, a panoramic restaurant, and an open-air auditorium. The 48,500 square foot (4,500 sq m) structure will take about two and a half years to complete.

In announcing the winner yesterday, the governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Srgio Cabral Filho, welcomed that the museum occupies the site of a former infamous nightclub that became an area of prostitution and drug trafficking. “I always wanted to see another function,” said the governor.
