Modern Design: "Lumen" – Oil Lamp Shadow Projectors

I absolutely love this brilliant design by Brooklyn-based artist and product inventor Adam Frank. Lumen is a series of acid-etched, stainless steel, oil lamp shadow projectors. The beautifully designed lamp throws a soft shadow on the wall when lit, as the flame flickers, the shadow moves about organically. The farther Lumen is from the wall, the larger the shadow. Lumen is American made with a stainless steel body and a polyethylene base to prevent scratching sensitive surfaces. Each piece comes with two 17-hour liquid wax fuel cells, which are odorless, clean burning, and meet or exceed all relevant safety standards. Lumen is one of the MoMA store‘s best selling items and is priced around $50. There are more places to purchase them however. You can compare the prices here if you like.
