You know we have a thing for sculptures, especially when they turn our reality slightly upside down. The New Image Sculpture exhibition at McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas, then, is right up our alley. They've assembled works by emerging and mid-career artists who "transform widely available materials, many found on the shelves of hardware stores and building suppliers, into fanciful re-creations and interpretations of ordinary and mundane things."
Basically, they're taking very traditional sculpture materials like marble and bronze and replacing them with very ordinary materials like styrofoam, corrugated cardboard, and duct tape. In other words, they're transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary!
