Presented by The Levi's Film Workshop, Outside In is a 30-minute documentary filmed at the MOCA in conjunction with Art in the Streets. The film features interviews with many of the key artists, including Shepard Fairey, Swoon, Neckface, Geoff McFetridge, Revok, and Invader.
Director Alex Stapleton documents the artist's creative process, their pitfalls with the law, the poetic impermanence of their craft, and the artists' evolution from the back seat of a cop car to the walls of a well-respected institution. She and her crew spent about three weeks filming the artists at work prior to the April opening.
Jeffrey Deitch, the director of MOCA, said in an interview after the screening that he plans to put the documentary on the museum's website and on YouTube. He said that Art in the Streets will evolve when it opens next year at the Brooklyn Museum.
