Photographer Matt Walford created this creature, he calls Bubo the Owl or (my favorite) Clockwork Owl, from tiny watch parts! “In all of my work I find myself deconstructing nature, whether its a landscape or a flower, or even food,” it says on his website. “I then reconstruct these natural things to create my own world, in which things exist in a way that they do not in nature. I think this spells from a boyish need to take everything apart and put it back together again, plus a great love of science and the natural world.”
Watch the video, below, to see how it was made. Walford entered this into a Camera Obscura competition (Camera Obscura is an American Photography and Literature Journal) and they ended up using it on their cover.
“These are the tiny watch cogs, leaves and twigs that make up the entire image (apart from the stars).”
“Here is a short video showing a bit of an insight into how my images are constructed!,” he says on his blog. “Would have been cool if I had kept all the cogs as separate layers but that probably would have killed me.”
