Thanks to a creative group of children, a Shetland pony now has a window on the world despite his oversized stall door. The pony lives at Ebony Horse Club, a South London therapy and enrichment center, where he brings smiles to the faces of underprivileged children every day. The tiny horse is temporarily living in a standard-sized stall, and sadly, his only view was the back of his stable door. So when the children had the chance to make Pedro's life better, they were naturally up to the task.
The young riders brainstormed ideas to help Pedro out with his height dilemma. Some suggested high heels; others thought letting him stand on the back of another horse would be a good idea. Eventually, the group settled on a workable solution: a giant periscope. The bright-green contraption that has now been hung on Pedro's door offers an eye-level glass panel for the pony that reflects the corridor and paddock beyond. It also makes it easier for miniature guests to check in on the horse. Perhaps the best part of this invention is its adorable name: the Pedro-scope.
