Intricate Hand-Cut Paper Sculptures Mimic Patterns Found in Nature

These intricate designs are incredibly complex Paper Sculptures by artist Rogan Brown. Inspired by nature, Brown creates work that is an exploration of the world. In each piece, the geometric patterns and branch-like shapes reflect the elaborate designs seen all around us, from microscopic cells to large scale geological formations.

With great dedication, Brown creates each labor-intensive piece with thousands of hand-cut slices, transforming the delicate material into gorgeous, fragile sculptures. Much of his work is based on natural organic forms, but Brown says, “Although my approach involves careful observation and detailed ‘scientific' preparatory drawings these are always superseded by the work of the imagination.” Ultimately, he starts a piece with a plan but he usually finds that the final piece is a gradual discovery that emerges right before his eyes.
