Transforming Shattered CDs into Animal Sculptures

Sean Avery is an artist who creates stunning sculptures from recycled materials, classifying his work as “sustainable art.” Instead of throwing old CDs away, he transforms them into something quite extraordinary. With the glossy and reflective look of the CDs, the pieces have an inherently mesmerizing quality about them.

Shattered CDs are a difficult medium to work with, but it doesn't seem so for this artist. He also works with other materials such as old computer parts. Avery elaborates, “I blend many different man made materials together to make them appear strangely organic, with a distinct sense of movement.”

Although the individual shattered pieces are sharp, they still appear very smooth due to his intricate layering and placement. The images of feathers and fur in these animals can clearly be seen. It's amazing how this artist can create such a natural look with these materials, bringing old CDs back to life!
