My Modern Metropolis

We recently featured a variety of macro photographers who have the amazing ability to reveal the tiny details of the world around us. Adding to this list is creative photographer Shikhei Goh. Based in Batam Island, located 45-minutes by boat from Singapore, Goh just recently started his photographic career in 2011.

In that short time since he began his career, Goh discovered a passion for macro photography and has since mastered the ability to develop relationships with small insects. His series of intense bug eyes are up-close, personal, and fascinating. Each portrait seems to bring to life the personality and character of the bug's species. Goh’s sharp focus on these little creatures enlarges each tiny fiber of hair to giant proportions. He says that after “countless trials and errors, explorations, and criticisms,” he has found happiness with the images that he has achieved.

Thanks to the photographer’s incredible talents and patience, viewers can gaze into the eyes of these bugs and observe the magnificent detail, geometric lines, and vivid colors that otherwise cannot be seen.
