In this great photo set by Kevin Cooley, we're left wondering what these twelve individuals could be thinking. Alone in the city on a cold winter's night, they sit in silence with not a single soul around them. What memories could be racing through their head? Are they savoring the silence or swimming in their sea of problems?

Kevin Cooley is a photo and video artist who lives and works in Brooklyn. He has worked with magazines like GQ, Fast Company, Details, Newsweek, Time and Wired.

I used to do a lot of this kind of thing a few years ago, it's really hard to find both an interesting composition and properly lighted. One of the things I loved about doing this kind of thing is how dramatically different the world seems when you're alone walking around a city at 2-3am. Nice work.

But to answer your question - they're taken in Germany, France, and Canada.
