Thrilling Glass Slide at 1,000 Feet Above Los Angeles Opens to the Public

For those who love to pair spectacular views with an adrenaline rush, a ride on the recently opened Skyslide is the perfect combination of both. Visitors can experience Skyslide’s unparalleled, panoramic views of downtown Los Angeles from within an enclosed glass slide that is suspended 1,000 feet above ground. The slide begins on the 70th floor of the U.S. Bank Tower, the tallest building on the West Coast, and extends 45 feet down to the 69th floor. The San Gabriel Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and even Catalina Island can be observed on clear days.

Skyslide is just one of the Tower’s many new features available at the top floors, known as OUE Skyspace LA. Skyspace includes the tallest open-air observation deck in California, multiple lobby spaces, a café and a restaurant/bar. OUE America, the Singapore-based firm who purchased the building three years ago, had invested $50-million into the renovation of the top floor of the building. “When we bought it, (it) was tired, it was old, so we've done a lot to make sure the iconic is still iconic,” OUE America President and CEO Lucy Rumantir tells CBS. “You can only achieve something different if you dare to do something big.”

Since its opening on June 25, 2016, countless visitors including those from Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Today Show have tested their courage and documented their experiences on Skyslide. For the faint of heart, it may provide some comfort to know that Skyslide is intended to be able to withstand an 8.0 earthquake and 110-mile-per-hour hurricane force winds.

To experience the panoramic views for yourself, tickets to access Skyspace are $25 for adults and a ride on the Skyslide costs an extra $8.
