London-based Sean Henry created more than 20 human sculptures and placed them in and around Salisbury Cathedral, one of Britain’s finest medieval cathedrals. The 13th century building provides the perfect dramatic atmosphere for the soul-searching figures.

In the exhibition entitled Conflux: A Union of the Sacred and the Anonymous, Henry showcases work throughout the past 12 years, along with some of his more recent pieces. It is the biggest single group of sculptures at the cathedral since the Reformation, and runs until the end of October, 2011.

"It is my hope that my anonymous figures will in some small way memorialize the everyday presence of people in this space, drawing attention to their role in its history and the significance of the here and now, as well as making people think about the building’s existing sculpture in a different way," says Henry. "The exhibition also invites us to contemplate the role of the Cathedral today and the evolving nature of art in religious environments.”"
