How Cavalier Galleries Is Celebrating 40 Years of Supporting Contemporary Art

In 1986, Ronald Cavalier Jr. opened a small gallery in downtown Stamford, Connecticut, with little more than determination and a single credit card. He borrowed against it to purchase pedestals and lighting, and for the first several years, turning a profit was just out of his reach. Four decades later, Cavalier Galleries has grown into a multi-location gallery with spaces in New York, Greenwich, Nantucket, and Palm Beach.

Burning Man’s “Broken” Eiffel Tower Sculpture Heads To Auction for $500K But Then Plans Change

A broken Eiffel Tower is leaving the Nevada desert and heading to the auction block. French artist Philippe Maindron created Eiffela Broken Dream for Burning Man 2026. The 30-ton steel sculpture towers 15 meters (almost 50 feet) high and stretches 30 meters (nearly 99 feet) long. Just days after the festival ended, Rouillac planned to offer the monumental work at auction in Paris on September 14. Bidding would start at €435,000, or roughly $500,000.

Japanese Town Creates Massive Minecraft-Inspired Design for Annual Rice Paddy Art Project

The town of Gyoda, Japan, has put itself on the map with a sizable tradition. Every year, the village rallies volunteers to create a massive work of rice paddy art, also known as tanbo art. (Their efforts have even earned them a spot in the Guinness World Records for the World’s Largest Rice Paddy Art.) Always up for a challenge, the organizers select a different theme each year.
