Steampunk Design

This is a computer.

I know it doesn't look like one, but that is the whole point. Steampunk is an offshoot of science-fiction / fantasy that imagines Victorian era design is still in use today. The movement has inspired some of the most creative designers found anywhere. They create computer cases and many other works of art that are truly beautiful and far outdo the bland looks of most modern appliances. The computer case above was designed and built by Jake Hildebrandt under commission for the western-style shooter game Damnation.

This beautiful work is also a computer. In this case it is a laptop. This amazing work of art was created by Richard "Doc" Nagy, known as Datamancer. Here is a view with the top opened.

Steampunk designers do not limit themselves to computer cases. They've imagined and created a whole universe of gadgets. Here are some of my favorites.
