Stephan Brusche’s Whimsical Sculptures Carved from Bananas

Stephan Brusche's whimsical sculptures made from bananas transform boring office lunches into magical, tropical escapes. The Netherlands-based artist creates his banana sculptures by etching dark brown lines into the outside of the peel and carving away other portions of it to reveal pop culture figures, zoo animals and parodies of famous paintings.

Brusche creates many of his masterpieces at mealtimes. The bananas are often pictured with a backdrop of a kitchen counter, breakfast cereal boxes or an office desk. A tiger banana even appears lurking in a potted office plant. Brusche posts his artwork on Instagram and Facebook via the hashtag #fruitdoodle.
