We recently got in touch with street artist Kenny Random to ask him about his newest piece. You may remember Random as the one who incorporates mysterious silhouettes throughout his work.

"Snoopy was an Icon in the '80s, he's very cute and everyone love him...but times have changed. This represents my iconographic image of modern times. Snoopy still embodies sweet and happy times, but notice how he's sleeping. It's as if he's been asleep throughout the past two decades and everything around him has changed.

"Snoopy is the dream and his devastated home represents the cruel reality or our new world. The tags and writing are the voices of youth rebellion.

"So, this is my picture of a modern metropolis."

"About the work on the wall, you can find a sign 'Vendesi' which translates to 'For Sale' in English. This represents the great crash of the economic system that happened all over the world.

"I just hope that when Snoopy wakes up, one day, a better world will exist around him. I'm afraid, however, that he will be homeless."

Random only released 200 copies of this print. It has since sold out.

What a very creative way to utilize a comic strip with modern times elements. I feel for other such classic heroes, like Calvin & Hobbes, The Far Side, and Garfield would find it hard adapting to realistic modern connotations. A very clever comment on our fantasy vs. reality comic strip world.
