Super Bowl XLIII - What a Game!! (13 photos)

Super Bowl XLIII was played yesterday on February 1, 2009, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. With all the cutbacks resulting from the severe economic downturn in the United States due to the global recession, the game was dubbed "The Recession Bowl." It was between the AFC champions Pittsburgh Steelers (15–4) and the NFC champions Arizona Cardinals (12–8). Pittsburgh earned its sixth Super Bowl win, 27-23, thus securing sole possession of the record for most Super Bowl wins.

Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes, who caught 9 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown, including 4 receptions for 71 yards on their final game-winning drive, was named Super Bowl MVP. He was only the sixth wide receiver to win the award, and also was the third Pittsburgh receiver to win the award, following Lynn Swann and Hines Ward.

The Cardinals suffered defeat.

Mike Tomlin, born March 15, 1972, is the youngest Coach to win a Superbowl.

The Pittsburgh Steelers joined the New England Patriots as the second team of the decade to win multiple Super Bowls.

That was such an exciting game!
As much as I wanted Kurt Warner's name to go down in history as the Greatest Grocery Boy that ever lived, Santonio the Not So Tiny Dancer deserves the glory.

Awesome game! Not to brag or anything, but I bet $10 that a safety would occur during the game. I'm the happiest person in the country today!!!

What a great game. I wasn't really excited about it before kick-off, but it turned into one of the better Superbowls that I've seen. That pick-6 was brutal... I was really pulling for the Cards.
