Sustainable Jewelry Grows a Jungle of Living Succulents

Susan McLeary (of PassionflowerMade) designs jewelry, but not just any jewelry–the artist designs living jewelry! Using succulents that she handpicks from a small, family-owned greenhouse, McLeary crafts intricate headpieces and biotic accessories. For 2-4 weeks, the plant artist's whimsical works can be worn before they begin to grow off their base. At this point, wearers can gently remove the succulents, pot them, and keep them as a memento (especially if they wore the piece for a special occasion). Once the plant has found its new home, the jewelry base can be worn on its own so nothing goes to waste.

Using her alternative accessories, McLeary showcases her talent, which was cultivated when she worked with leading floral designers in the United States. During this time, she refined her one-of-a-kind style and now aspires to share her talent with the world. To see McLeary's living jewelry for yourself, you can visit the artist's Etsy store.
