In this series called Masters on 45s, Israeli photographer Tamir Sher got creative with his old record player by taking the look and feel of classic records and turning them into something new and contemporary. Sher says, “I appreciate artists that are devoted also to contemporary times with consideration to the past.”

For this project, Sher placed reproductions of old masters and also his son’s superhero toys on the record player and spun them around at various speeds. He captured the blurry movement and spinning motions of the items to create these unique visual contradictions between fact and fiction. The photographs are a dizzyingly fresh representation of classic art and toys. In his bio, Sher says, “My wish is to create work that allows the viewer a new way of understanding and interpreting phenomena.”
