The Beautiful Mondrian Los Angeles: A Redesign Done Right

The Mondrian Los Angeles was redesigned at the end of last year by Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, one of the most stylish and influential interior designers today. Noriega-Ortiz has designed projects for celebrities like Lenny Kravitz and P-Diddy, both who surely appreciated his perspective on modern design - clean lines and simple patterns. The newly designed Mondrian hotel lobby, lounge, and guest rooms all speak to his philosophy; he marries modern and classical pieces to create an experience no one will soon forget.

Part of the Morgans Hotel Group, the Mondrian was first designed by none other than Philippe Starck. In fact, some of Starck's original work has been left in tact; Noriega-Ortiz had such high regard for Starck that he stated, "“I didn’t want to eradicate Philippe Starck’s original vision, I wanted to build on it; I wanted to enhance it.”

Though I appreciate the wild and whimsical nature of hotels like the SLS, the Mondrian's holds the key to my modern heart.

wow very very sleek....i'm loving the furniture. very usable pieces. i agree with you...SLS was really cool in an over-the-top sort of way, but the designer here seems a little more practical i can see some of these idea in my future home.

I like the classical clean modern lines. Sometimes going too modern can seem cluttered, but it looks like the Mondrian did it right. Great job!
