Sure we love beautiful decor (
Gordon Ramsay). Yes, we're taken aback when we get spectacular service (XIV). But why do we really enjoy dining out? For the FOOD! FIG, in Santa Monica, is an all new moderately priced French–New American restaurant that showcases seasonal, locally sourced fare procured from the nearby farmer's market. The all-day casual bistro resides in the wonderfully elegant Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.

Just two weeks old, it's already getting great reviews for putting fresh ingredients first. By building a menu around what's in peak season and by seeking out the region's best growers and producers, chef Ray Garcia says that "FIG’s signature dishes are simple and straightforward, focused on taste above all."

This is next on my list as a restaurant to check out! Check out these reviews from
Yelp and one from our favorite LA food blogger,
Caroline On Crack.
If you happen to go first, bon appetit! Let me know how you like it!
