The Opera Fireplace

New York-based Chilean native Sebastian Errazuriz makes us think twice about that architectural structure in most of our homes – the fireplace! His 600 pound Italian marble fireplace doubles as a mini opera house. Errazuriz's beautifully recreates an opera stage complete with curtains, stage, wooden floorboards and stairs. What makes his sculpture even more amazing? It's a fully functional fireplace! As an added bonus, it also comes with “actors” carved from wood.

According to his website, his main focus is “to create works that can remind people of their mortality, invite them to look again at their lives and question their daily routines.”
