There aren't many other places in the world I'd rather be during this time of year. I mean, look at how much fun these people are having at Octoberfest in Munich. With good food, happy people, and lots and lots of beer, the Germans sure know how to throw a rockin' party....

According to The Big Picture: "This year marks the 177th Oktoberfest to be held, 2010 is the 200th anniversary of the very first Oktoberfest in 1810 (some years were missed due to war or cholera outbreaks). The Oktoberfest tradition started in 1810 to celebrate the October 12th marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. The citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities which were held over five days on the fields in front of the city gates. This year, festivities will run until October 4, 2010."

  • @JT, thanks for sharing. Sounds like you had a blast!
  • There is something about girls in those German dresses holding massive mugs of beer that just seems right.
  • i was very fortunate to visit Munich in May this year for a marketing first time for a humble 'small-town boy' to visit a huge far off European country.

IT WAS COLD-but the people were warm, the German beer and the Schweinshaxe was great, the city had a wonderful charm to it.

And German women...don't get me started...Munich was cold but not the people,LOVED IT.
