The Ultimate Parody: Bush Played by Will Farrell On Broadway

Not ready to see Bush go? Then check out You're Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush, Will Farrell's one-man comedy show coming to New York's Broadway's Cort Theatre on January 20th.

If that date seems familiar it's because January 20th is Bush's last day in office. Coincidence? Not exactly. The two hour show will officially open on Thursday, February 5th, 2009, with previews starting on January 20. It will be directed by Adam McKay, Ferrell's longtime collaborator, and director of the comedy classics Anchorman and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

Doing Bush on SNL wasn't Ferrell's idea and he never expected the impression to have the longevity it has had, mostly because he didn't expect Bush to have the longevity he has had. "Lorne Michaels asked me if I wanted to play Bush," Ferrell said during a press tour appearance. "I thought, 'Yeah, this will be fun. I’ll play him for a couple of months. He probably won’t win.' Then he eventually won."

Personally, I'd be excited to check out Will Ferrell in action as "the W." Who didn't love him as a giant but clueless elf and who didn't crack a smile when he would spaz out with Cheri O'terri as a cheerleader on SNL? And if that's not enough to convince you to check it out, director Adam McKay has half-heartedly joked that the show may be for "adults only" saying, "We're goofing around with a bit involving full-frontal nudity."

For those of you who can't make it out to the big apple during its 8 week run (through March 15), catch it on HBO on March 14 when it will be presented live from the Cort Theatre.
