PICK OF THE WEEK

Public Enemies
This weekend's movie pick is totally gangster! In Michael Mann's latest flick, Johhny Depp stars as legendary John Dillinger, while Christian Bale plays FBI agent Melvin Purvis.
Critics are giving the film mixed reviews, saying it is a competent and technically impressive gangster flick with charismatic lead performances, but some may find the film lacks truly compelling drama.
WORTH A LOOK

Girl From Monaco
Critics are giving
The Girl From Monaco good reviews, saying the romantic satire achieves modest success, chiefly from the performances.
A brilliant and neurotic attorney goes to Monaco to defend a famous criminal. But, instead of focusing on the case, he falls for a beautiful she-devil, who turns him into a complete wreck.
FOREIGN FILM OF THE WEEK

Tony Manero
Raul Peralta is a 50-something man who lives in Santiago during the fearful, suffocating days of Augusto Pinochet's rule. Raul is obsessed with John Travolta's character from Saturday Night Fever. Each weekend, he performs with a small group of dancers at a small bar, recreating the moves from his favorite movie. But when the stage's wood begins to weaken, Raul is determined to rebuild it with glass blocks that light up. He finds an even more important purpose when a television station announces that they're holding a Tony Manero dance-and-look-a-like contest. In such a stifling social climate, Raul takes matters into his own hands, doing whatever it takes to make his dream come true.
Critics are giving
Tony Manero good reviews, saying Writer-director Pablo Larraín keeps the uneasy laughter and nervous shocks coming in this magnificently deranged study of overboard pop-culture fandom and destructive effects of authoritarian rule.
