Incredible Smaug Book Sculpture Pops Off the Page

Sculptor Victoria of VMCreations (aka FarTooManyIdeas) has created a paper sculpture inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit featuring a menacing Smaug emerging from the hardcover book itself. The incredible, sharply scaled dragon can be seen circling around a Danish copy of the novel as a tiny figure, meant to be Bilbo Baggins, hides from the creature's wrathful gaze.

The artist, who couldn't wait for an English copy of the book to arrive, opted to craft Smaug's likeness with her Danish version while keenly studying the trailer for the film. She says, “That one clip, where we first got a good glimpse of him, is what inspired this pose.” Coupled with her creative mind and skilled hands, the lively sculpture is an impressive rendition that literally pops off the page.
