Very cool news. Quincy Jones has confirmed that "We are the World" is getting remade with proceeds going to help Haiti. It's been 25 years since QJ gathered some of the biggest stars to record this classic song. Recorded on Monday in LA, the day after the Grammy's, sources say Usher, John Legend, Natalie Cole, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Will Smith, Jason Mraz, Sugarland, Sheryl Crow, Mya and Justin Bieber, and others may be participating. "It's the 25th anniversary and it's perfect timing," Jones said. It's not an accident, man. That's God. It will be 'We Are the World' for Haiti." Here's the original: Via Eonline and USA Today

  • Yeah's for a good cause and all.

But like Kevin said..why not a whole new song? Of course the original had people like Stevie Wonder and MJ and Bob Dylan and Ray Charles who could churn out a good song with a drop of a hat. I don't suppose Miley Cyrus could do that.
On the other hand I have a few Quincy Jones albums and he has always managed to take artists take it to another level.

But still...Bottomline is, you wanna make a product that people would want to buy especially for a good cause. I for one would favor the Haitian girl poster that Eugene posted the other day.
  • I hope it makes a ton of money!
  • well i guess it's for a good cause but man this thing is going to be bad! Look at the quality of singers on the original vs. who are doing this remake. And it should tell you something that they couldn't come up with their own song.
