Incredible Installation of a Dinner Plate Tornado

Hard Water is an installation piece by Amsterdam-based artist Zeger Reyers that features stacks of white dining plates and saucers mounted to an otherwise bare wall. The intriguing presentation reveals Reyers' signature blend of the natural and the artificial. The tornado-like formation of the piece provides a visual hint of nature composed of man-made objects.

In addition to its imposing stature as a towering wall of kitchenware like a pile of dishes that need to be washed, there is simultaneously an interesting fragility to the porcelain structure. Its menacing and daunting impression is directly linked to its susceptibility to come falling down, shatter, and ricochet in every which direction. To some it may just seem like a visual interpretation of procrastination, while to others it may reflect a more global matter commenting on environmental issues. In the end, its interpretation is left open to the viewer.
