What could be better than LEGO animals? Sign me up for this adventure! The Bronx Zoo brought out the famous toys for their "Great Summer Zoofari: A LEGO Wildlife Expedition" on display through September 2011. LEGO Master Builders built these life-like animals to appear right at home in their respective environments.
It took about a month to construct all the animals at LEGO's U.S. headquarters in Enfield, Connecticut. "We stack up bins and bins of different colors and different-size bricks," says Steve Gerling, a LEGO master builder who designed the primary models for the plastic menagerie.
For visiting families, the exhibit is even equipped with fun-filled guides. The Zoofari passport encourages them to visit six stamping stations, learning activities along the way. Bronx Zoo Director Jim Breheny believes “it’s a good way to engage and educate kids about conservation while they're having fun.”
