Artists Pay Tribute to Edward Scissorhands

Can you believe that it's been over 20 years since the movie Edward Scissorhands first debuted? Starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder, it will live on as one of those classic and artistic Tim Burton films that beautifully rode the edge between romance and fantasy.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, artist Seb Mesnard set up a blog where he asked talented and aspiring artists from around the world to submit works inspired by the story and its characters, executed through the artists' own unique approach.

Gallery Nucleus is currently showcasing a selection of these original works from Mesnard's blog. The exhibit highlights the works of over 40 artists, in all sorts of different mediums including paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures, so that fans everywhere can celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tim Burton's classic love story and its unforgettable characters.

From that show, here are some of our favorites.

See all the pieces over at Gallery Nucleus. The show is going on now till May 9, 2011.

Doesn't it remind you of the Terrible Yellow Eyes project for Where the Wild Things Are?
