Musicians Perform Inside a Melting Ice Cave in the Swiss Alps

While many musicians dream of performing on the world’s biggest stages, Swiss artist To Athena (Tiffany Athena Limacher) recently fulfilled a very different kind of ambition: singing inside a glacier. In March 2026, she and her band—featuring two violinists, a cellist, and a keyboard player—joined Greenpeace on an expedition to the Morteratsch Glacier in the Swiss Alps. They performed her song “Collide” inside a frozen cave carved in the glacier.

Conservationists Are Planting Giant Sequoia Clones in Detroit To Help Preserve the World’s Largest Trees

The towering giant sequoia has long defined the forests of California. These ancient trees can soar more than 300 feet tall and live for over 3,000 years, making them among the largest and longest-living organisms on Earth. Now, conservationists are giving their descendants a surprising new home in Detroit, Michigan. Volunteers in Detroit have begun planting hundreds of giant sequoia saplings throughout the city.

Colombia Bans All New Oil and Mining Projects in Its Portion of the Amazon Rainforest

Colombia boasts a small fraction of the Amazon rainforest (6%), but it makes up 40% of the South American country. In an effort to protect its biodiversity, particularly in the face of climate change, Colombia has announced that they will be banning new mining and oil projects in their portion of the Amazon rainforest, and plan to turn the area into a reserve for renewable natural resources.
