Abstract Photos Feature Gorgeous Details Found Throughout Nature

Washington-based photographer Thorsten Scheuermann has a strong eye for capturing the details in nature. When observing a landscape, he sees both the vast beauty as well as the intimate details that can often be overlooked. In this series of work, Scheuermann finds unique ways to present nature as layers of colorful texture.

“I love hiking in America's National Parks,” explains Scheuermann. “[I] enjoy capturing both grand vistas in beautiful light as well as intimate scenes just waiting to be discovered by visitors with an open mind and open eyes.”

Scheuermann eliminates any human presence and creates tight crops so that viewers are witness to only a portion of the larger scene. By narrowing in on such intense details, he creates abstract photographs that are filled with a sense of mystery and presents nature in a new and unexpected ways.
