Ceramic Sculptures Brilliantly Imitate the Delicate Nature of Sprouting Grass

Ceramics artist Alberto Bustos uses porcelain and stoneware to craft astonishingly organic-looking sculptures of plants. Soft and delicate in appearance, each gently curling tendril is actually a rigid blade carved from clay and fired at high temperatures to produce a hard surface. Layered in dense multitudes, the green-tipped shoots take on a life of their own as they sprout outwards in a simple expression of life and growth.

Bustos, who lives and works in Cistrniga, Spain, will display his work in a group exhibition taking place on June 13 in Mas De Les Gralles just outside of Barcelona.
