Couple Quit Their Jobs to Create Epic Wedding Album Featuring 56 Ethnic Minority Traditions

Instead of settling for a simple happily-ever-after, this Chinese couple is taking their wedding on the road for an epic year-long expedition. After falling in love during a trip to Tibet and solidifying their engagement in Chongqing, China last August, Ji Yuting and He Tao quit their jobs and set off to explore their country on foot (with a bit of hitchhiking along the way).

The adventurous pair are compiling the ultimate wedding album as they travel from place to place. At each pit stop, they capture a picture in the locale's traditional marriage garb and, so far, they've tried on over 20 different costumes from a range of different ethnic groups–which means they've learned all about a broad range of time-honored traditions while establishing their own marital memories. The couple plans to visit the 56 ethnic minorities across China and don their traditional outfits for their wedding album.

Ji Yuting and He Tao are sharing their journey via their public WeChat account, taking all of us on a digital exploration of Chinese culture, landscape, and–of course–love.
