Computer Parts World Map Symbolizes Digital Future

Susan Stockwell up-cycles with intense ingenuity. The parts the UK-based artist uses for each piece adds to the message she attempts to relay to the world. World is a giant world map made from recycled computer parts commissioned by the University of Bedfordshire. What began in 2010 is now completed with motherboards, electrical wiring, fans and other components donated by the people at Secure IT Recycling. Many of her works, including this one, are concerned with issues of ecology, geo-politics, mapping, trade and global commerce.
