Giant Partying Aardvark is a Playground for Kids

Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has been on a tear lately with his gargantuan sculptures. His giant floating rubber duck that sailed around Hong Kong is now in Taiwan where it's expected to remain until October 20, delighting local residents as it spreads it infectious message of happiness. Then there's that huge wooden hare that's happily sunbathing in Russia. Doesn't it look as if he doesn't have a care in the world?

Hofman's other "big" project that's making headlines these days is a 30 meter long concrete sculpture of an aardvark in Arnhem, Netherlands. Rocking his gold party hat, the red colored aardvark is a site specific work created to celebrate the zoo's 100th anniversary. You can watch the making-of the massive sculpture, here. Love how kids are invited to climb all over this one.
