Once overlooked and unused, this abandoned garage has since been transformed into a gorgeous, functioning space that serves as a retreat, a meditation space, a lounge, an artist studio, and accommodations for an overnight stay. The bright, eco-friendly design was developed by Graypants, Inc, a firm based in both Seattle and Amsterdam who strive to produce thoughtful projects that tell a good story.

Sitting along the edge of the Puget Sound in Washington, the post-World War II garage was filled with a rich history. To maintain the essence of that past life, Graypants repurposed many of the existing materials to combine old and new into the beautifully open design.

As Architizer states, "Scratched boards become a textured backdrop defining new functions, while the remaining structure is dismantled into flooring, concealing beds and lounges beneath. Reclaimed pine, a discarded basin, and a century-old stove introduce the memories of others: a remix of the familiar and the novel, the past and the future."
