The reason that LEGOs are such awesome toys for kids is because they are not only fun, they inspire kids to build whatever their hearts desire by using their problem solving skills and ingenuity.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary of being introduced into Japan, LEGO sponsored a cross-country workshop where over 5000 people in 6 different regions collaborated to create a gigantic map of their county. After the kids assembled their own structures at each individual site, the blocks were all sent to Tokyo to be a part of one massive LEGO map.

Rather than recreating existing landmarks, the adorable children were encouraged to use their imaginations to create what they wanted Japan to look like. The results look pretty remarkable. In total, 1.8 millions LEGO blocks were used and a stunning metropolis was born. Build Up Japan took place from March through April earlier this year.
