Lightboxes Unveil Hidden Drawings

Mortality
Artist Carne Griffiths uses calligraphy ink and various types of tea (think chamomile, early grey, chai, etc) to blend the lines on his drawings. Then, he repeats the process, layering the work. For his homemade lightboxes, he makes double sided drawings then adds in a light behind it so that the hidden image only comes through when the cord is pulled and the light switches on.

"I think people enjoy the escapism that my work offers, a glimpse of another world, yet I am often reflecting everyday issues," he says. "I suppose it gives them a comfortable realm within which they can contemplate."

Love these, what a cool concept. The skull is a bit scary, but it is almost Halloween!
