Star Trek Superfan Transforms Basement into Starship Enterprise

Here's what the original looked like:

Social worker and Star Trek superfan Line Rainville has taken her love for the original, 1960s science fiction series to a whole other level. The 51-year-old Canadian spent $30,000 to transform multiple rooms in her house to replicate the Starship Enterprise as a tribute to her favorite TV show from her childhood.

The renovation project began one day, when Rainville decided that she wanted to turn her basement into a home theater and came up with the idea to transform the suite of sub-level rooms into the iconic set. It was a passion project that turned into a challenge for the devoted Trekkie/Trekker that took over a year to complete.

Rainville says, "At some points, I took so much time to find out the precise item that it seemed like an obsession… I had put in so much energy seeking what I wanted that to accept failure is difficult, even to this day. Although people say they are impressed with the decor, I know well each inaccuracy, the exact places that I could improve."

Despite her perceived imperfections, the woman says, "Standing there, being 51 years old, I was kind of beamed back into that 9-year-old girl's mind who so often wished her beloved Captain Kirk could bring her aboard his vessel… All at once, I was aboard the Enterprise. The illusion had became my reward."
