Untouched 1970s House Preserved as Psychedelic Time Capsule Now For Sale

For those who long for the decade of bold, clashing patterns, synthetic materials, textured walls and shag carpets, you can now travel back to the 1970s with this well preserved house that has been untouched for more than 40 years, serving as a glorious time capsule. Located in Framingham, Massachusetts, the psychedelic explosion spanning 4,133 square feet with 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and even a swimming pool, can be purchased for $624,900.

“The original owner built the house and customized it and did all the decor in the early ‘70s,” realtor Matthew Cuddy told BuzzFeed. The most recent owners also appreciated the décor and lived in the house for more than 20 years without changing any parts of the quirky and multicolored interiors.

The kaleidoscopic sofa, curtain and wall patterns, florescent pink and purple bathroom, lime green and yellow kitchen walls, and dark wood paneling throughout the living rooms are quintessential and wonderful hallmarks of an era that celebrated self-expression and individualism. “It’s a time capsule,” said Cuddy. “I remember my own mother decorating the house like this with orange shag carpet and everything.”

Cuddy says the current owners are willing to sell or possibly leave some of their current furniture in the house for the next owners. Learn more about the property through its listing on Century 21.
