Breathtaking Long-Exposures of the Alps at Night

The typical photograph of the Alps involves bright sunshine and gleaming snow but this series Stille Berge (or Silent Mountains) by photographer Michael Schnabel gives us a look at the Alps at night. The mystery and awe of such massive landforms rises to the surface and the one-hour long exposures exude a quiet loneliness within these unconventional landscapes.

Currently based in Germany, Schnabel splits his time between his successful commercial photography and exhibitions of his fine art work in museums and galleries. He is currently showing Stille Berge along with other work at Photonet Galery, Wiesbaden, Germany and has several upcoming solo shows this spring.
