Artist Natalia Rak has been on a roll lately, creating two huge new murals for street art festivals in Europe. The first one, seen above, is called Magic Book and it shows a girl opening up a book only to discover a world full of wonder inside. Octopus tentacles emerge from the book's pages and a bright light shines on the stunned girl's face. This gigantic mural was created for the Art Scape Festival, an international street art festival, going on right now in Malmo, Sweden. It took the Polish artist several days to complete the piece. Because of its enormous height, Rak had to use a cherry picker, a type of aerial work platform, to reach the upper corners of the wall.
Rak's other work, called Explore Nature, was the first piece she completed in 2014. A young, blue-haired girl in a red, polka-dot dress is curiously looking at ladybugs through her magnifying glass. It was made for the Festival Memorie Urbane in Terracina, Italy. She joins 22 fellow street artists including some of our favorites like Julien “Seth” Malland, Pablo Herrero, Martin Whatson, and Ernest Zacherevic, in decorating 40 walls. The artists began painting their works on April 2 and will continue throughout the month of June, but, lucky for visitors, the whole event will last until September.
